One of these things is not like the other
I like that of the twelve people Chuck Yeager follows on twitter, one is Neil Armstrong (makes sense) and another is Ashley Judd.

Movies watched in 2012, so far
2012 (2009, dir. Roland Emmerich) Sex & The City 2 (2010, dir. Michael Patrick King) The Expendables (2010, dir. Sylvester Stallone) In Bruges (2008, dir. Martin McDonagh) The Third Man (1949, dir. Carol Reed) Bit of a mixed bag so far and I’m slightly hesitant to be up front about it on tumblr, but I want to list movies I watch this year and that requires full...

But it's not fair!
Watching a bunch of libertarians whine about getting a raw deal is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. Also, incidentally, it’s wonderful to watch American politics as a spectator sport and I’m glad my nationality allows me to retain the necessary level of critical distance to view it as such.

It's either that or lousy action movies
When I was quite young, Hurricane Andrew made landfall and quite unexpectedly news stories about the arrival of the National Guard captured my imagination. Being all of six years old, I thought the National Guard was actually just one guy who shows up in times of great crisis and solves problems. Ray Lewis should be the National Guard, when he retires.

At the movies...
Saving Private Ryan’s Horse looks dreadful. Tom Cruise Deftly Avoids Explosions Again (Again) looks lousy but hopefully earns Brad Bird all the money in the world because he deserves it. Thatcher Really Was a Nice Person, See? looks infuriating. Might just watch The Wild Bunch again, yeah?

I finally have the internet at my new place. It only took three weeks and for the company to physically put a line into the building. And a faulty modem getting sent to us. But here we are. What’d I miss, tumblr?

Dear US readers
Would anybody like to buy one of those video game tie-in bottles of Dr Pepper and give me the code under the cap? I’d be eternally grateful, and it’d allow me to wear this Rebecca Black inspired dogtag to confound and annoy my foes:   Flick me a message in my ask box if you’re down.

On the lamb
Anyone have any advice on roasting a whole leg of lamb with the bone in? The spice rub is applied and it’s marinading now, but opinions seem to vary about cooking method and temperature (internal, especially).

Narrow focus
Me: Hah, can you believe this guy has a blog devoted entirely to hummus?
Stepdad: That's crazy. There are government supercomputers constantly scanning for those keywords. I wouldn't even go to those sites, personally.
Me: [Confused silence] Wait, no, hummus not Hamas.
Stepdad: Uh?
Me: The dip, not the terrorist group.
Stepdad: Oh.

"You too, snitchy."
I wholeheartedly support Four’s decision to mix in really awesome old episodes of The Simpsons amongst the crappy newer episodes. Bart sells his soul, you say? Perfect.
